Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

Once upon a time, about five years ago, I broke up with my boyfriend of five years. It was pretty close to Valentine's Day and come to find out, he had a really cute date for a party that I was going to be attending as well. There was no way I was going to be able to let that girl show up cuter than me, so I did what every girl would do, and went shopping. It was Valentine’s night and the Mall was packed! I’m already not too girly, so I was having a hard time finding something to wear. Two hours later I had the perfect outfit, but now I needed shoes.

I came across a store called “Shi”, it’s a female shoe store owned by “Journey’s”. The store was going to close in 20 minutes, so I was looking around frantically for the perfect shoes. Then, one of the associates asked if I needed any help? I must have looked completely lost. As she was trying to help me (which, by the way, I wear a size nine and a half shoe, so its hard sometimes with my big feet), I was telling her what my goal was for the evening and how I needed to look better than my ex’s date. The girl loved my story so much; she had to share it with her co-worker. They said they have had nothing but stupid sappy stories all day and it was nice to hear a real story.

The store was about to close, but these girls were not going to let me leave until I was satisfied. They had me put on my outfit and we tried on every shoe until I found the perfect pair. The store was open an additional two hours, just for me! My mission was accomplished and my Ex didn’t know what hit him! The following week, I brought the girls a gift basket to show my appreciation and bought another pair of shoes. Best Valentine’s Day Ever!

Week 1 EOC : My Voice

As a professional in the audio industry, I can say that it is an extreme amount of hard work, but it is so much fun! Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, there wasn’t a whole lot to do. Music became my only outlet. I started going to rock concerts at a very young age with my mother. With my outgoing personality, it wasn’t hard for me to meet who I wanted to meet. At the young age of fourteen, I was introduced to the wonderful world of EDM (Electronic Dance Music), and I have been in love ever since. I immediately started networking with the promoters and artists that made the scene. It was so full of love and so accepting to everyone that I jumped right in helping out with promotions for events, taking care of artists and working the door from time to time. As I learned how to breakdance, I became the life of the party. People wanted to know where I was going just so they could watch me dance, giving me the nickname “DubQueen”. In 2011, I decided that it was time to make a name for myself instead of being known as “that dancer girl Stephanie, she helped us”. I started a promotional company and stuck with the name I earned, “DubQueen”. Around the same time I started getting more bookings as a DJ and was really starting to build a name for myself. Then I got a job at a concert venue downtown called “The Old Rock House”. As a server and bartender I wanted to learn everything I could about running a concert venue. From the paperwork, to the stage production, they taught me everything I could ever want to know, but it still wasn’t enough. The more successful I got, the more I realized that St. Louis wasn’t the city for me so I packed up everything and moved to Las Vegas.  Going from being a big fish in a big pond, to being a small fish in a small pond was a huge change for me. It definitely put my life into perspective, as I knew I needed to figure out what it was that I really wanted for my future.  That’s why I decided to go to school for audio production at The Art Institute. Knowing that with what I have learned from my past experience and the education I am about t receive, I will most definitely reach my goals. One day I hope to run my own recording studio and radio station. Hosting a few festivals is in the plans as well. I guess you can say I’m going big, or going home.
